Mom's Night Out and Fun with Gran and Doda

This weekend was very fun. I went to Lindsey's bachelorette party in Edisto on Friday night. I almost did not know what to do with myself with no children or husband for 24 whole hours!! We had a lot of fun at the bachelorette. Londe and Erin did a great job of throwing it for Lindsey. This coming weekend is the big wedding, so I am sure Lindsey is counting down.

Ben stayed with Gran and Doda Friday night since Jack had early morning swimming lessons on Saturday. I think that Ben had a very good time. He got to have some "quality time" with Doda. Gran also got to see how much this boy can eat. I think she was slightly amazed, of course, Jack ate just as much. Someone say a little prayer for when I have two teenaged boys...I'm going to need a second job! Benjamin is getting so big! On Sunday I was sitting on the floor with him and I really think he might be about to sit up all by himself. He is getting very close. I cannot believe how fast he is growing. It seems like we were just bringing him home from the hospital!

Me and my Doda chillin' on the porch
Jon and Jack had boys time on Friday night and Saturday. Jack had a minor run in with the couch...the couch won. He now has a big goose egg on his head. They came down to the country on Saturday afternoon to have dinner and pick me and Ben up from Gran's house. Farmer Jack of course had to take a stroll around the garden and pick a few tomatoes. It started raining and that just started a whole new game. He loves to be outside. Tonight I had him out on the porch while I was trying to grill some burgers before the bottom dropped out. He had his soccer ball in one hand, the garden glove on the other hand and was pushing around "Chomping Mike" his toy lawnmower. It was quite interesting to say the least.

Swimming lessons are now over and I am proud to report that it is official, we have a fish on our hands. I really cannot believe how much Jack has learned over the course of the summer. He has no fear! Mommy on the other hand almost has heart failure every time he jumps off the side! I cannot wait to see at the beach in a few weeks, we are going to have SO much FUN!

Just Hanging Out

This weekend was pretty uneventful. We had our usual Saturday morning swimming lessons. Mom and I then went shopping to find a dress for Lindsey's wedding. Mom and I found some really cute stuff for the boys. As you can see I have some really COOL dudes on my hands!

"What's happening hot stuff?"

The rest of the weekend was just spent relaxing. Daddy decided on Sunday morning that Ben and Jack could have a special treat and they could eat breakfast and watch "The Wiggles" all at the same time! It was quite an event.

Jack was very excited about "The Wiggles". He was trying to get Ben to dance, but Ben was content to watch.

Jack's latest trick is being able to put things on his head. If he finds a pair of shorts, a shirt, blanket, basically anything it immediately goes on his head. As you can see from this picture he found one of Ben's onesies and put it on his head. You cannot really get the full effect from the picture but it looked a little bit like "I Love Lucy" and that rag that she wore on her head to cover the curlers. What are we going to do with this kid?

Diaper Dodger

UH-OH....Jack has learned how to remove his own diaper!!! Gran found him napping the other day with no diaper on and his heiney way up in the air. Daddy found him this morning in his crib diaperless. Luckily no accidents so far. We shall see how this works out...we may try to start potty training sooner rather than later if this becomes a really bad habit.

Ben went today for a check from his last ear infection. He was all clear. He had also gained almost 1.5 lbs in 3 weeks. I think we are going to have a BIG boy on our hands. He has started growing like crazy since he started eating solids. So far he likes sweet potatoes best!

Bath Time!

Well this has been a fun week. I was planning on posting last night but we had a HUGE storm and lost power around 8:00 pm, so there was no posting. Jack and I went outside last night after dinner and picked a few tomatoes from our garden. He was then ready to feed them to everyone, including Ben. As you can see Jack was very excited...Ben not so much.

"Come on, just eat it." Hmmm...do you really think you should trust your older brother telling you this?

I love to pick tomatoes. Don't you like the hamburger pasta on my shirt from school.

We then took our first joint bath. I think this might become the norm very soon because it saves Mom and Dad some time. The only problem with a joint bath is you have to be extra vigilant to make sure that nobody (Ben) drowns. Jack was very helpful. He helped pour water on Ben to rinse him off and was showing him the ducks and the boats. It was quite entertaining for all involved.

Splish! Splash!

Happy 4th of July and Greenbeans!!

Well we had a very fun weekend. Friday we celebrated the 4th at Gran and DoDa's house. We also celebrated DoDa's birthday. Jack got to go swimming for a little bit, but we had to cut it short due to thunder. Kiki came home and spent the night with us. She got to witness Jack in his best state...tired and ready to go to bed. He managed to fall and bust his mouth on his cup, which was a very pleasant experience. After much blood and Jon and I inspecting him in the kitchen with a flashlight...he was fine. Have you ever tried to get a 1.5 year old to open their mouth and stick their tongue out? It takes a lot of funny faces on the part of Mom and Dad. After the boys FINALLY went to bed we watched Star Wars...not sure which episode they have all started running together since Jon watched them all last week. I think that Jon gave Kiki every bit of Star Wars knowledge that he had to share. I guess "The Force" will now be with her!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DODA!! Jack was preoccupied with giving the dogs blueberries!

Ben was not bothered by the events of the day...

Saturday morning Jon and I had to go to a wedding for a friend of mine from work. It was very nice. Gigi and Kiki had the pleasure of keeping the boys. I think they were both glad that Jack and Ben both took naps! After nap time and some yummy Marble Slab we went to "Uncle" Brennen's for a cookout and more swimming. We had a very good time. We got to see Matt, Garnett and Claire who were up from Augusta. We also got to see Bryan, Meredith and Anna. Their newest addition will be arriving on Friday...GOOD LUCK!! Jack had fun swimming in the pool and making new friends. Ben basically just sat there and took it all in before taking a nap.

Sunday was a lazy day. Jack went with Gran and Doda to Hartsville to visit the Howle's. Jon, Ben and I stayed home and had a pretty lazy day. We watched a movie and I actually stayed awake for almost all of it!!

This sums up our day on Sunday.

Tonight Ben had his very first vegetables...greenbeans! He seemed to do pretty well with it. A little better luck with greenbeans than we have had with rice cereal, but really who could blame the kid for not liking rice cereal?? I know that he is waiting for the day that he can have a Rush's cheeseburger with Jack!

Yes, that would be greenbeans in my nose...

Jack and Pop Up Video

Jack dancing to VH1 Classic Pop Up Video. This went on at our house last night for about 15 minutes. It went to commercial and he almost had a melt down. I think he got his Daddy's "rhythm". I think next year he might be on "So You Think You Can Dance?"
