Vacation 2008

Well we had our first full fledged week long family vacation last week. HOOORRRAAAYYY!! We went to Garden City for the week with Gran, Doda, Kiki and Kaela (Kiki's roommate). Gran and Doda took the boys down with them on Saturday afternoon and then Jon and I followed Saturday night after Beth and Stokely's engagment party in St. Matthews. The party was awesome and it was nice to get away kid free for at least a little while. Beth and Stokely looked so happy and in love. I am so glad that Beth has found someone to make her as happy as she deserves to be!
We woke up at the beach Sunday morning and Gran fixed us an awesome breakfast and vacation was officially underway. We spent lots of time sitting out on the porch in the rocking chairs and in the swing. We were also across the street from a canal with lots of ducks. Jack thought that the ducks were the greatest things ever. Every morning the ducks got about half a loaf of bread to eat. Needless to say, by the end of the week we could not walk downstairs without a group of ducks coming up and thinking they were going to get a snack. It got a little creepy, especially when you practically had to kick ducks just to be able to get into the car.

The aforementioned "psycho" ducks...

Chillin' on the porch.
Jack loved the beach. Miles and miles of sand and lots of birds make Jack Langston a happy boy. He liked the ocean ok, but preferred playing in the sand. He got kind of nervous when the waves would wash sand out from under his feet. Jon and Doda took him out past the breakers some and he of course was his normal fish self once he got out there. We took the sun cabana for Ben, but I am afraid that he was not really enjoying it too much.
Poor Ben ended up with an ear infection while we were there and we was just not himself. Jon and I took him to Doctor's Care on Tuesday and we had a doctor that basically told us we were idiots for thinking our kid had an ear infection because nobody gets on ear infection without a fever. Then the quack doctor proceeded to tell us that any doctor that told us he had an ear infection without fever was just telling us that to satisfy us. Needless to say I was a little bit peeved when we left that doctor's office and immediately told Jon that I wanted a second opinion. Needless to say, we went to another doctor on Wednesday morning and sure enough he had an ear infection in both ears. But the nice doctor couldn't see into his ear until she was able to remove some wax buildup from inside of his ear. Anyway, that is my story about Doctor's Care in Myrtle Beach...don't go! On top of the crazy doctor there, Ben decided that it would be a great time to have a blow-out! He made a mess all over his clothes and in his carrier. Of course, I had packed everything EXCEPT an extra outfit. Jon had to make an emergency run out to Wings or one of those places to get a really cool tourist outfit for Ben complete with sun visor. The visor makes him look like he is going to play cards somewhere. Unfortunately no picture because the kid will not keep the visor on long enough to get one!

Having a cold one at the beach

The rest of the week we pretty much just played out on the beach and at the pool. It is hard work having two kids at the beach, especially one as young as Ben. There is no way we could have done it by ourselves so we have to send a great big THANKS! to Gran and Doda. We all had fun and cannot wait to go again next year!!

Thursday it got a little bit windy, well a lot windy at the beach so we decided to take a family outing. We took Jack and Ben to the Children's Museum in Myrtle Beach. It was quite interesting, Jack thoroughly enjoyed himself. He even got to ride on a real fire truck.

The Bumbo is a great thing...

We all enjoyed the porch

I think we were really ready for a nap in this one...

Jon's aunt and uncle sent us very cute matching outfits with hats for the boys when Ben was born. I was saving them for the perfect time to take a picture and I thought to myself that the beach would be the perfect time. Unfortunatly I did not take into account the 30 mph winds that decided to blow in. We improvised and took a few in grass outside of our house since we were all dressed up. It was really very interesting...remember the ducks!

Sweet boys

They started going over and well, Ben did a face plant shortly after this picture was taken. All I can say is that boy is going to be tough!

Random Bridges Moments

Around our house there is always something going on. Some just lead you to wonder....who are these crazy people?

Smiling "like a mule" - it's a family thing

Ben, it's just the beginning of a rough ride.

Yes, those are heels...

In Need of Vacation

Today is finally the day, we are headed to the beach for the entire week!! HOOORRRAAAYYY! I think we are all in need of a little R&R. Jon has been working from home everynight until midnight, I have been getting my butt beat by the trainer, Ben has had pink eye, and well Jack has had a rough week.

This pretty much sums up how we all feel.

Monday at school Jack was running and fell and hit his nose on the baby cradle. His nose bled and he had a little bruise. He also got bit by a friend so he had a giant bite mark on his shoulder. Tuesday Jon and I were dropping him off and he jumped on the bean bag with a friend and ended up with a black eye (Jon and I had not even left the room when this happened). Wednesday he got into a tussle with a friend and ended up with a bite mark on his back. Needless to say the child looks like he has been abused.

Lindsey's Wedding

Jon and I went to Lindsey's wedding this weekend. It was very beautiful. It was also good to have some adult time and hang out with old friends.

Fashion Police...Maybe Not

Well, it has been officially confirmed that my oldest son has his Mother's fashion sense (and for that matter, his Dad's). The other day we were about to go outside to pick tomatoes. I asked Jack to go and get his shoes. Did he go for his tennis shoes that he was sitting beside? NO. Did he get the sandals that were on top of his dresser? NO. Instead my less than fasion concious son went INTO his dresser drawer and pulled out his white high top Sunday shoes. I tried to get him to wear anything else, but only those shoes would do. Then I opened the drawer to get out a pair of socks, and boy oh boy was that the wrong thing to do!! So sockless we went in our Sunday best to the backyard to pick tomatoes. Needless to say he was very happy, and at some points in life, that is all that matters!!

My Burrito

Pictures of my precious little man in his favorite sleeping position...the burrito. You would think that at almost 6 months old he would be over this, but we still have to get up in the night just to put him back in the burrito. Oh well, the cute factor is well worth it!!
