What a Weekend...

This has been a very fun weekend. Friday night we had to pick the boys up from Gran's house. Aunt Millie and Gran kept the boys all day Friday since Ben was recovering from his ear infection. I think that Aunt Millie was in 7th Heaven.

Jon and I had our first night out Saturday without the boys. We went to Russell's 30th Birthday at the "swamp". It was a lot of fun. The Dean Dollar Band was there, and Marianne a.k.a Mamma (Dean's wife) was the life of the party, at least until 10:00 when she passed out. As you can see from the picture below, she was having the time of her life. Someone very wisely got her off of the stage and unplugged her microphone. Not sure who that was exactly, but I think they deserve a pat on the back.

Jon and I had a great time. It was good to see Kayli and the rest of the Merritt gang. Always fun hanging out with them. We even got to take a lovely and scenic ride through Lugoff a.k.a THE LUG. Jon and I were not exactly the nightowls that we used to be. I think we were home in Lexington around 11:15 PM. That is about 3 hours past our normal bedtime, so I think we did pretty good.

Mamma - I think the picture says it all...

Jack and Ben got to stay at Gran and DoDa's house. That is always fun for the boys. Not sure about Gran and DoDa. Ben was recovering from his ear infection, but I think that he was well on the road to recovery. Gran said he was being sweet as ususal. He has now been nicknamed "Lumpy", short for sugarlump, so I think he is doing OK. Jack was of course his normal self...hilarious. He got to pick and eat lots of blueberries in Gran's backyard, he is becoming a pro at holding the basket for the blueberries. He has also figured out...one for me...one for the dog... Jack also got to experience one of the joys of being in the country...skinny dipping. As you can see from the pictures the sun was shining, but the moon was up!!

Time-out, Hedgehogs, Ear Infections and Tomatoes

Today Jack is helping me blog. On Monday, Jack decided that it would be fun to bite one of his friends at school. (We have been having a major problem with this, but things seem to be now getting better.) Anyway, after Jack bit his friend, the teacher called out his name. When she did, Jack knew that he had been a "bad boy" and he put himself in time-out. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not. I guess it is good because he knew that he did something wrong, but probably bad that he knows so much about time-out...oh boy.

Jack has also recently been saying lots of new words. The latest and perhaps the funniest is now "hedgehog". It is quiet entertaining. What 1.5 year old says hedgehog? I guess that is why reading to your kids is a good thing.

Benjamin went to the doctor today and he has his 3rd ear infection...not good. He has to go back in three weeks for a check so hopefully everything will be clear. It is looking like he will be getting tubes like his big brother.

SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE....I picked my first tomato out of my garden tonight!! Yeah....

A Fun Day with Cousins

Well yesterday we had a very fun and active day. The Fearsome Foursome came down from Asheville and we all got to go swimming at Gran's house. By the Fearsome Foursome we are of course referring to our cousins, Fuller, Caleb, Emma and Andrew. We had lots of fun swimming with them and Jack even got to ride on a "dragon". Can you imagine such a thing. All together we had 6 children, it made for a fun and eventful evening. As you can see from the pictures below there was not a lack of flotation devices to be found in Sandy Run. Benjamin was there, he just decided that he would "hang out" and take in all of the festivities.

Jack and Fuller on the "dragon"

Having fun in the pool...

Emma and Andrew having fun.

Like I said...not a lack of flotation devices

Today, I had to go to work for a little while. Jack rode with Gran and DoDa to the lake. He was very excited by the boats. According to Gran he even did a little dance. Ben got to hang out with Dad and Mom all by himself for a little while which was a lot of fun. We don't get much Ben only time. Jack is usually around directing all of the attention towards himself, imagine such a thing. Ben's personality is really staring to come out. He is such a sweetheart. He is cooing and laughing and talking all the time now. I think we might have another chatterbox on our hands!

Firsts, Firsts, and More Firsts...

Well this weekend has been quite eventful for Ben. Friday night we discovered his first tooth!! This morning he had his first taste of solid food (he was a little less than impressed), and then this afternoon he rolled from his back to his tummy!! GO BEN!! My little man is growing way too fast. He is going to be running around with Jack before we know it. Oh dear, what a thought!! Jack only plummeted off of the couch head first 3 times this weekend. No major damage..yet.

Jack had his 2nd swimming lesson yesterday. He was doing much better this time around. No latching onto Jon like he was part monkey or something. He even participated in all of the activities until the very end when the instructor gave all of the kids rings to use when "jumping" off the step. Jack was much more interested in chewing on his ring and trying to figure out how to get the other rings that he lost all interest in "jumping." Today he was showing off his "skills" to Aunt Keri at Gran's pool. I could tell she was VERY impressed!

Ben enjoying his very first cereal...very tasty, or not. I think the look of shock on his face kind of sums it up pretty well. He is saying to me "Mom, if you really want me to eat solid food you are going to have to give me something that actually tastes like food."

Jack thought it would be a good idea to try some of Ben's cereal. I keep trying to tell him it is not a good idea to eat everything in sight, but I think this is one of those things he is going to have to figure out on his own! I think he might have actually enjoyed it a little more than Ben!

The Bridges Blog

This is the first Bridges Blog post. We are learning how to blog and looking forward to sharing our funny stories with everyone. Life at our house has been very interesting since February 19. That is the day that Benjamin Faulkner joined our family. Big Brother Jack was very excited to have someone to play with. Ben is now 3 1/2 months old and Jack is 18 months. Needless to say we are very busy. We look forward to doing more posting soon!
